Raw plugin for Photoshop v6.0

Hi Guys,

I have Photoshop v6.0 and tried to open an NEF file - but it seems I don't have the necessary RAW plugin.

I thought that Photoshop by default was able to open these files and had the raw plugins installed (obviously not).

Can someone please point me in the right direction as to how I can get this plugin ........

Thanks so much

I think you may be in trouble with PS ver 6
I found this link
http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/main.html
where Adobe talk about CS and Elements 3 but not about any other Photoshop version.
But if you go to
http://www.fredmiranda.com/
FM software, 70% down the page, has apparently developed RAW plugins for PS ver 6. Cost does not seem to be that expensive.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Graham

Thanks Graham, I have checked and found out that by installing Nikon View you can then (from within Nikon View) select to edit a photo within Photoshop - but certainly does not have the same functionality from what I have seen in Photoshop CS.

Mike, you could try copying the NEF plugins files from the folder Nikon View is installed, to the Photoshop plug-ins folder.

These files have a .8BI extension. From my install, I can see Nikon NEF plugin.8bi and Nikon YCC TIFF.8bi. Then, you can try opening NEFs directly from Photoshop. It works with version 7 I have; but has much more limited functionality compared to Capture or View.
