Basically the question is the same as: would you pay the price you paid for your DSLR for the image you have captured to date?

Considering that my D70 has earned me thousands - I would say yes

I don't know how some of you keep track of you shot count, but mine would be somewhere below 1500 shots, so I'm still expecting more play time from mine. (My wife would kick my butt if it died too)

Nope, still attempting to get that 64,000 dollar shot.

Not just a hypothetical for me. My body did break, during my only sister's only wedding, 12,000 miles away from 'home'.

Yes, I would be happy - aside from my disappointing shots of the Grand Canyon (I should have shot NEF, and used CPL), Niagra Falls (I should NOT have shot NEF). Two locations which I probably won't visit again in my lifetime.

It also had me seriously contemplating the replacement body being a switch back to P&S.

Touch wood my shutter hasn't failed yet, I'm still after that shot thats perfect.
My only worry is if I get it will I give up this hobby?
My answer is no, still hungry for more images!

Keeping in mind my job (3d, illustration) and fact that photohgraphy for me is also, beside hobby, a tool to improve my articstic and creative skills, I can say - yes my camera setup has done for me very good job. However, my the best shot is still somewhere there waiting to be found

I answered yes. I'm happy with what I've got to date, but that doesn't mean I'm not striving for more happiness and greater shots in the future.

Would I be SATISFIED with what I have if I could never take another picture - now that's a very different proposition to which I'd answer a resounding NO!

I would have to answer no, I haven't had my D70s for long enough. Plenty of good shots left, I'm sure. Still learning, and want to keep learning. When I run out of things to learn, time to get the next model

Ask me in a few weeks when I come back from holiday , may be a different answer.

Why shouldn't you have shot NEF for Niagra falls ?

I don't think I would be happy with what I have done with the camera so far if it were to die now.

Anyway I shouldn't need to worry too much as I purchased the extra 4 years warranty from Birddog.

I answered yes because I'm using the d70 as my first dslr to learn. And what a learning curve. If I'm still enjoying learning and using the camera as much as I am now, then in 2 years time I reckon I can talk myself into an upgrade to a d2x or whatever it will be then.

After a lifetime in photography and over 2 million professional images under my belt I can reply the same as I always did in media interviews when I would be asked which my picture was and my favourite. My response was always:

The NEXT one!!

It is never over until it is over.

Actually, if your camera body broke, wouldn't you just break out the gaffer tape and fix it?

So it seems that many people have got good mileage (ie many satisfying images) out of their camera...
Me: I am very happy with the images from my d70 and would not trade some of them in for more than the camera is worth...
