Suggested CCD Cleaning Demonstration Early in '05

I, for one, look forward to my first attempt at cleaning the sensor with a small degree of fear and apprehension.

Maybe other "New Users" in Sydney share my concerns and agree that seeing a practical demonstration of the process would be useful.

Is it possible to consider this on the agenda for part of a meeting in the new year.

I'll volunteer to act as the pupil !!

Joet, ATM, we're looking at the possibility of doing a family picnic lunch/late lunch/fantasy sunset shoot in mid January, and trying to source some ideas for February. This could well be the first.

What else do y'all wanna do?

Do you have all the cleaning stuff?
We have done this before at my base on one Saturday in last Sept.
If you're free on this coming Saturday, you can call in with your camera I'll have Matt. K and perhaps Onyx here, so they might gone thru with you in five minutes and you can practice yourself with confidence.

Gary, in a past life I used to run a camera club and one of the best outings we had was on a river cruise, on a ferry from berawa waters. We supplied every one with a free roll of film and collected it at the end of the trip. Prizes were awarded to the best photos taken from those rolls.
The beauty of digital is that you can do away with the free rolls of film.
It's amazing how a bunch of people in short proximity can come up with such diverse results.

Thank you for the kind offer...unfortunately, I've yet to get the cleaning gear and have a previous commitment on Saturday next.

HOWEVER, you have a starter next time it's mutually convenient.

Further to Phillipb's idea: one of my sons is a Master on Sydney Harbour and as a result has quite a few contacts amongst the charter boat / large fishing boat community.

My boy Chris says a day or an afternoon on the Harbour would be simple to arrange in the New Year.

Mid week fees are obviously lower than weekends and the pro fishing season ends shortly after Xmas so they would be another possibility.

If we crystallise our requirements a little further (pun intended) I reckon Chris can come up with a good price and keep us away from the heavy swell to cater for those prone to seasickness.

Cleaning CCD is no longer a great topic of this forum since everyone seems to handle it by themself and it's a quite simple process that why we did not raise up an ideas CCD meet anymore, having said that, I do sometimes help member in individual to learn DIY and that's.
Cleaning CCD requires an inside room and access to PC so we can find where the dust bunnies are and check how we have done.
When you require, just PM me and I'm able to set out some of my times to go thru with you all the processes.

In fact, I'm thinking in terms of somewhere like Brooklyn or Patonga, and while the ferry wharf has been mentioned, I neglected to even consider a ferry ride.



What about a steam train to Brooklyn, ferry to Patonga, and then ... and then ...

Coming back down to earth, Glen mentioned a walk around the inner north harbour yesterday, but I'm concerned about how crowded (parking, etc) that area can get.

Rose Bay Park perhaps? That usually stays relatively uncrowded no matter what. I need to check its western outlook.

That could certainly be fun. As could a photographic trip on a commercial fishing boat.

As Chris leads me to understand, they have female Masters as well..you can form your own conclusions but I have heard rumours about sailors and his Mum doesn't want me to take that any further.

He has a mate with a wooden hulled fishing boat which could provide all the romance we could cope with, but only in the photographic sense.

As to the avoidance of the swell, I'd prefer the colour to be in the scenery and not quite as immediate as a trip beyond the Sydney Heads can generate.
