Our logo on merchandises

PostPosted: Wed Aug 24, 2005 2:49 pm

I'm planning in re-order few merchandises for members on this forum and thinking about the old and new logo with old and new name, so here's the question and poll.
The merchandises are: Pro Loop Strap, wrist straps, Coffee mugs, some other photograpy related items.

P.S

I made my mistake and can't correct with the poll.
My first question is:
Keep the old logo as it's/ no change.

Link to the images of text

Nnnnsic's edit: Corrected the poll for you and added a link to the text images.

Looking forward to the coffee mugs Birddog! How about caps?

For the record - I voted for the new logo with Yellow on Black (Nikon colours :P ), although coffee cups would be nice with the old D70users logo on one side and the new one on the other! It all comes down to costs - the more we ask for, the more it's gonna cost (or the more stock needs to be held).

I would think that we should do some mechandise with the new logo, and keep the old logo as historical only, with no further production, for those amongst us fortunate enough to have originally obtained such goodies.

....... will I stay on the diet, or will extra, extra, extra, large T Shirts become available....... other than that I guess its a coffee mug, but it won't cover much....

I am with Gary, my pieces will be locked away in a glass cabinet waiting for the capital appreciation. If anyone wants to swap now for a D2X, before the D2X drops too far down, I am all ears

My vote is in. New logo in yellow on black.

I feel that it is more in keeping with the direction this forum/community has taken. ie. Multiculturalism - Nikonians, Canonites, Fujians...

Cheers :)

I'm happy to do whatever the most people prefer to.

Coffee mug: Black? Blue? Green White?

DSLRUsers.com logo: Has Leigh got the design and artwork yet? or he's still working on it?

I need the art work and I send it to suppliers so they can do some samples for us. Ready for Xmas party delivery of coffee mug and fresh one for the NewYear. I have few thing on my agenda, so we have to make thing happens and we don't have much time.

Actually, the coffee mug with simple logo and one colour like we have with the D70Users.com costs AU$5.50 GST inc. but we have to order 240 pieces to achieve that price of each mug, two logos on one mug is a good idea, perhaps an other additional of 50 cents. Apart of that we have to pay for one time to setup art work (we supply art work).

The Pro Loop Strap will have two logo colour versions:
- Logo of DSLRUsers.com/ Yellow letters on black strap dedicated to Nikon fans
- Logo of DSLRUsers.com/ Red letters on black strap, dedicated to Canon fans.

And the logo perhaps will be the same size as the existing of D70Users.com

What else?

I'm with BigPix, I need a bigger shirt too 1 that fits.LOL or are us big fella discriminated against.LOL
Wish i could buy like Nikon hats and stuff, might have to buy a Canon they got lots of gear. But the idea of hats is a good 1 as i almost always wear a hat. Oh happy with whatever you decide.

Problems with cap & hat, no so popular demand of those and the quantity to order have to be over 50 or 60 unit/ order.
I perhaps won't do any polo or T shirt same as the cap.
Lot of money go into those stocks and they are dead stock btw.

Hi Birddog,

having the two logos on the mugs would be nice, I prefer a white mug.

Just saw reply from Birddog, edit to remove line ;)
------Caps, t-shirt, polo shirts could be nice.-----

Thanks to all involved for doing this 8)

cheers,

Radar

I would love to see some samples of the mugs and shirts etc. As a new member and a non-Nikon user (at this stage anyway) I think it makes sense to have a newer logo so that the old one means more to the more senior members and the newer members can take pride in a logo that includes them.

This place just gets better and better 8)

Don't forget the yellow background with black writing one for Mic.

I put in the white one just in case.

Like I have a clue what other companies use... I suppose Fuji's should be green, Konica Minolta's should be blue, Olympus's might be white with an anti-dirt layer in front of it, and Pentax's would stop working just because Pentax's hate me.

I originally thought red on white (red text, white background) for the Pro Loop Strap for the Canon users, but apparently they don't make them in white.

Leigh,
Thanks for your works.
I'm sure the yellow and red will go well on the black background.
Agreed:
- Yellow for Nikon
- Red for Canon
I wait for more comments of members on this board, and I'll start my job on Monday to shoot this off to suppilers.

Leigh, pls. email me the file of this art work.

For Mic:
Ask Mic what other colour can be inverted to use for Fuji? Milnolta? Pentax? Kodak? Put them in the same sex so easy for choosing the colour for them

Dad wanted some mock-ups of the possible mug looks so, seeing that I'm teaching myself Maya anyway, I tried it in that.

Sorry if the lighting seems odd. I'm still learning!

I like the idea of the mugs....something I'm sure we could ALL use ! I wonder if it's possible to have an image on the mug to make it look like a lens standing on it's end ? (perhaps with a disclaimer somewhere that states "this mug is not suitable to attach to a camera" - just in case

Ummm this may be covering old ground here but I couldn't actually see anything about straight forward stitchon/embroided patches of these logos. I was thinking that it might be a good thing to have patches of the logo so members can stitch it onto camera vests of carry bags..

Just a thought.

I'm right in there with Big Pix and BBJ - I need T-shirts from the Bell-Bottom T-Shirt Company. Why is it that regular T-Shirts are only ever sized and shaped for the width-impaired or horizontally challenged?

The idea of moth-balling the D70 logo is highly commendable and should be accompanied by a further pruning of divisive and tribal aspects still to be found in the Forum headings and the sub-headings. It is not just a matter of Canon people not feeling equal but also D2x folk being somewhat disenfranchised by the poverty pack, to use the motor-trade terminology.

Cheers,

By the way, while I do really like the dark cup (suits bachelor washing up regime) I feel that perhaps the logo reversed in black on the white mug might benefot from a different aspect ratio to the black panel to reflect the 3:2 aspect ratio of the DSLR.

Just a thought!

And a good one at that.

Perhaps add some pseudo film sprockets along the top and bottom just to confuse the issue? :)

And has anyone picked up on the fact that Leigh is a lefty?

Only in the sense that I thought he might have been a shade pink!!

Rather than sprockets, how about LED style text like data in the rebate listing the web address or something?

I was planning to attak Maya Cloth today so I'll see if I can't render a nice shirt for all of us.

The black-on-white cup was Dad's Idea. I didn't like the sound of it too much, but Dad wanted to see it.
I don't think the yellow-on-white would work as a result (too bright), but the red text on white or a black texton white would work just fine.

You are aware this means I have to rework the textures, don't you?
Lol.

And Cyrus, I'm liking Maya. I've had a little bit of experience wit 3ds Max in the past, but I wasn't too fond of the interface and found it a pain to work with.
I'm liking Maya more (thanks Wendell) and am not finding it all that hard.
If you've ever used Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Freehand, Director or anything else, don't worry. You're stuck in the same boat the newbies are.
It's interface and menu mechanics are very different to what I'd anticipated, coming from the minor experience I had with Max.
It is, however, quite easy to get the hang of. The availability of menu functionality all throughout the application is unbelievable.
It does have its bugs (like all proggies do), its hardware texturing is pretty weak when it comes to dealing with consumer drivers, and polygonal texture mapping is driving me nuts.
All in all though, it ain't that bad.

New image coming up later today.
