Still having trouble with my tamron 70-300mm lens!

Hey guys.

Thought I'd get the old tamron out again and have a go. This pic was taken on tripod with the self timer activated to avoid camera shake.

EXIF details as follows:

300mm
f 10.0 1/125 sec
ISO 200

The lens seems sharper when not zoomed out far, but at 300mm I get this (This is a crop of the image and the focus was on the horses)

Should I return the lens?

Based on your shooting details that shot looks very very ordinary. I don't have the lens but I can't imagine it is that bad under those conditions and stopped down. I would say return it, but hopefully someone who has one can confirm

Hi Owen,
I have the Tamron 28-300 lens. While I know it is quite soft I certainly don't get the problems that you are having. Here is an example.

Return it, but try to deal direct with the distributor rather than the local supplier.

Nothing more useless than snap-tackle that doesn't work!!
