Photoshop Files - Where have the previews gone?

Hi all.

Does anyone know how I can view PSD files as thumbnails rather than having to open them fully in Photoshop?

Prior to installing PSCS, I was able to see the thumbnail images of PSD files in their resepctive folders, in My Pictures or anywhere else they were stored. They would be visible just like all the other JPG, TIF & NEF files but now all that comes up is the PSD logo/icon and the name of the file. The JPG, TIF and NEF thumbnails are fine.

Am I missing a plug-in or is there some other fix I could implement 'cos it's a pain in the bum having to fully open files to see if they're the right one - seeing the thumbnail would be so much better!

Appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi Simon...
I have CS2, but don't have this problem...
Windows XP seems to display thumbnails for NEF, PSD & JPG files without any problem...
This probably doesn't help you much I know... but hopefully it'll give you a clue...

Thanks John - I don't know what the drama is. Didn't have the problem prior to CS and now CS2.

Mudder & Manta...

I took pity on you... a quick Google revealed this potential solution to your problem... I haven't tried it... but give it a go...

Thanks John and Andrew for the link and advice - as you say, Andrew, it works a treat. Another great Father's Day pressie for me and another fine example of the assistance offered through the forum. Way to go, guys!

Oh and thanks, BP, for reminding us of our hardware inadequacies! You'll keep!

That's great news, thanks guys! I thought I must have been going mad and never devoted the time to solving the problem, what an easy fix it turned out to be.

Good point Leigh. I'm not a frequent traveller on the Bridge (more like a troll that lives beneath it) but I see that little add-on can come in very handy sometimes...

.........but there a lot of Aston Martin cars about..........Have not been out very much as we are on the last 1/3 of the house. Two 12 hour days in a row to complete the lounge dining rooms which would make a great studio, I will finish the windows by lunch time today and we can start to put it all back together. We have to get it done as the third bedroom is needed for houseguests from the US for a few days.......
