Second hand Nikon GearHi everyone,
It would appear that the Fairfax Community Newspapers in Melbourne are changing all of their Nikon Digital equipment over to Canon and are now looking to sell off their used Nikon camera gear. My Girlfriend, who is a Journo there, said that the photographers are using the old D1's which apparently have an inherant back focusing problem? I've requested a list of the equipment being sold and will post it as soon as it is avaialble. Cheers, Andrew.
Thanks Andrew, very interesting. Maybe a 500AFS for Kipper?

Hmm, yes I suspect it may just be an excuse for the photographers to get new gear. It's the first time I've heard the problem mentioned. Maybe the photographers just don't know how to use their cameras
As a matter of interest I have notice that all the pro shooters at the football (NRL) and the motor races are all using Canon. What do Canon now offer that Nikon don't.
D700, 50 1.8, 14-24 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 70-200VR, 80-400VR, SB800 plus a lot of gadgets
By the time the list posted here, I don't think we will have anything good remaining as we always wished.
Gears released or sold from PJs is only good for use as replacement parts, but someone who works in those Dept. know how to make money thru the second hand photographic shops. But we can have a dream, don't we? Birddog114

genji, Buy them quick! it'll retain as collectible items in your inventory and the value will be greater after, don't you know all the collectible items are bruised and scratched, at least you have to know something valued which you loved. Birddog114

Sorry for the late reply but I have only just been able to check out the items available for sale.
It seems that the equipment is in pretty bad shape and as far as prices go.... well your better of getting brand new gear through Birdy. My appologies for getting members hopes up
agriffiths, It happenned with all the gears which the pro photogs want to ditch. Especially when they go thru the Auction houses, if they're in good or mint condition, some insiders have their hand fast. Birddog114

Yep I agree. I'm sure that if there were any good lenses they would not have even made it to the sale list. Oh well, I'll be wiser next time
