If I had one then I'd probably use it as a lens on my camera

Well, if you had a Nikon-mount camera you'd probably be best off using it as a macro lens (or portraits if you wanted I suppose).

Some of us would just use it as a source of cash for another EF lens. ;)

Seriously, more detail in your query might help us give answers that weren't quite so flippant. :)

It has two functions...

1. A high quality fast macro lens.
2. A fast medium telephoto (150mm equiv on the d70)

It is a beautiful lens, highly recommended.

No, I am not anywhere near that level: one day perhaps :(

Just googled for that lens and up it popped, excellent work.

A question, what is the working distance of the lens when mounted on a D70 for ratio of 1:1 ?

You'll find out a lot at thos site generously given to me by Glen some time back:

http://www.naturfotograf.com/index2.html

Without an extension tube the lens only focusses down to 1:2 and, in keeping with recent Micro design from Nikkor, the focal length decreases as focus gets closer and so the distance to the subject decreases exponentially.
