Welcome Steve - check out the FAQ section (which I'll admit I not all that easy to find - unless you really look for it)...
I'm a Member but I can't log in to parts of the forum! (Special Access)
Certains parts of the forum are set in a "Members Only" section (i.e. Bargains, The Business Of Photography, etc).

If you have more than 30 posts and do not have access, send a private message through to one of the administrators or moderators asking to be given access to the Members group.

If you have less than 30 posts, you shall not be allowed to be entered into consideration for entry into the Members Only sections.

Remember, however, that because this section requires membership to be approved, administrators and moderators may look over your posting history to decide if you've earned the right to access that section.

There's also quite a few threads on the real meaning of '30 posts' and the reasons why, etc. Try a search on 'special access' or 'membership'.

Put simply, the 30 post rule is a general guideline - the mods still have the right to allow or dissallow based on quality - it's all about people adding to the community we have going here :) Other points to note - you will need a meaningful location in your profile, and perhaps try a picture post as well - people around here like to see what others are capable of (not sure whether they just like seeing better pictures than they can take, or whether they have other motives ;) ).

We're not ogres here (well, most of us aren't ;) ), but we do value highly the resource of this community - all this is designed to do is assist us in protecting this. Join in, you will find this place highly useful :)

Except for the home (index) page, where it's in the left hand series of boxes, it appears in the menu at the top of every page,

But the real issue that we have the FAQ for very good reason, and Sheepie is absolutely correct in pointing Steve to this section.

Steve, I commend the FAQ to you, and if you try to again post a surreptitious "for sale" message here in an attempt to ignore/avoid/break our rules ....

I thought as much. I needxed to very careful in how I worded my earlier message, as I wanted it to be obvious that it was obvious, but I didn't want you to look like you were missing something so obvious. :)
