If you're expecting the D200 in 2 days, brace yourself for disappointment.

It's far more likely you'll get a swarm of new Coolpix models, all sporting higher and higher MP counts, more gimmicks and gadgety features that contribute 20% of sweet FA to image quality or camera useability....

The D200 is my new "dream" camera and I need it before my Europe trip next July.

Maybe I missed something?

Are we in Germany ??

I generally hear kookaburras laughing, which is strongly suggestive that we're - or at least I'm - not.

No, we are not in Germany, we are in Australia. Unfortunatelly Australia in not a prime target for companies like Nikon ;-)

Anyway, just heard, here and there, so said about singing birds ;-)

Are you certain??

That probably explains the kookaburras.

Pribably explains the galahs too.

Obviously your invitation to Thursday's soiree is still in the mail.

An invitation is surely the sign. Question is: sign of what?

Really, dont want to argue and start pointless flame. Heard 1st, heard 5th, from people who seems as realiable as locals with invitations. Time will tell. It supposed to be two days away.

Well thats what I have gathered for the 1 sep. Only time will tell ..

Darn, I was hoping to "see" the specs for the D200 before deciding whether or not to upgrade to either a D70s or D2. My D100 is getting a bit "battered" from my hiking trips.

Cheers.

Really.... this outbreak of D200-itis is getting a little silly. A quick cruise past all the usual suspect infection points: fm forums, nikonians and especially dpreview show it is almost at plague proportions  and we are still talking about vapourware!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm as interested in this "fleet model" D2X as anyone else and if and when it appears I'll lap up all the info and reviews and it may well become part of my kit, however the camera body is just one link in the chain to taking good pictures.

To me the chain consists of body, lenses and the photographer. Upgrading your camera body and lenses without also upgrading ones skill as a photographer is just a waste of money. When I feel I'm at a stage when the D70 is holding me back and has become the weak link in the chain, I'll upgrade. At the moment, the D70 is a better camera than I am a photographer...

Methinks krpolak didn't get an invitation.

I may not have an invitation, but as Practise perfectly shows an invitation does not give you any advantage over people who are able to hear what birds in Germany sings.

And at the end of day 1.09 it was me, who was right about D200 realising at the time, not you.

Please, let be this issue for you a reminder that judging people on an invitation is not wise behavior.

Thank you,
