Tamron 70-300 Lens Problem?

Hi All,

This is possibly a dumb question - but I will ask anyway.
My Tamron lens has an oily spot on the lens barrel.

The spot is on the top of the lens barrel and is visible when I zoom out the lens.

Is this normal?
Or is it a leak in a seal or something?

Thanks in advance

John

I wouldnt be too worried. Use some Shellite to remove it. Do not use anything like contact cleaner as it can eat paint and plastic, including lense coatings. Dab a clean (NON ALOE) tissue (or date loaf) over the end of the Shellite bottle and then wipe the surface.

Cheers,

Luke

Thanks Luke

But i am not so worried about cleaning it
More concerned about why everytime I use my lens there is a fresh oil spot there - like the lens is leaking something and hence may be about to ummmm stuff up

Hi,

Personally for me, I would take that lens to a reputable camera/lens repair shop for a check up. Ask the technician/owner of the shop what is the prognosis and how much it is to clean/repair that oil spot.

Cheers.
