Not sure if Im posting this in the correct forum...but here goes (probably the stoopidest newby question)

I own an old Sunpak B3600AF flash unit which I have used for years and years on my Nikon F90X...despite its age, its actually a pretty good bit of kit, as such I naturally wanted to try it out on my D70s...but it simply will not fire, regardless of which setting I use on the D70.

Can anyone tell me if this flash "should" work on the D70s or am I correct in assumeing that it wont work on the D70s.

Every setting possible has been tried...on both the flash and the camera.

So I really am now interested in if this flash unit "should" technically be compatible with the D70s.

how do you attach your flash unit........on top of camera or do you use the Nikon flash connector which goes into the hot shoe and your flash sync will plug into this......and maybe work.......

Yep, I am simply slideing the flash unit into the cameras hotshoe point...as per both my F601 and my F90x.

As far as I known, even with few old Nikon Speedlites, they do not work with the D70/D2/D2x.
I don't know much about the Sunpak, but you can check the pins out on both the hotshoe and the flash to see if there's any difference>

One more question....

When using a third party flash in manual mode, obviously the flash settings on the camera need to be set to manual but does the camera's metering ALSO need to be set to manual??? I have a feeling I have only ever set the flash settings in the camera but still been in shutter priority...
