D2h should I get it?

Postby shutterbug on Tue Sep 27, 2005 1:58 pm

I am looking at getting a D2H (used, but just been serviced and shutter changed). What price are they going for? Owner wants $1500 USD. Is it a fair price? Thanks

If i were you with those sort of pennys I'd wait and make do with what i have.

and await the arrival of the D200 though noone knows when it will arrive. Another thing with the d2h is that you don't know where its been and what kind of punishment its been subjected to.

I would be very iffy about buying such a thing expecially if its from overseas and you've never seen/used it before.

What do you mean "shutter changed"? with that price you better off buying locally. AU$2000.00 ex-freight and ex-GST if applicable

I wasn't aware of his occupation as a wedding photographer.

that said I'd still be a tad weary.

Camera is from fellow photographer, the shutter mechanism has been changed, it just came back from Nikon. Just got a full service, like new with just some makes outside. A least I know the history

True about price + shipping too. Locally, cannot seem to find any at a reasonable price.

Shutterbug,
If you can find one locally at that price, it's a best buy, 4MP is more than enough for you to shoot wedding and I believe you're shooting JPEG only.
4MP on the D2H or D2Hs still sings well with your job.

Last week our member Jeko7 sold his D2h for 2K and he replaced it with the D2x.

Stock from overseas is not good! coz exposure and meter problems are known issues with D2h, Nikon/ Maxwell won't touch it under warranty, but if they are happy to do for you then there's a damage.

+ take into account of GST payble if applicable.

Local stock with Maxwell warranty is safe and it's a bargain.

Edit: Problems of D2/ D70 is now known issues (BGLOD or Exposure meter), if they're out of warranty, Nikon/ Maxwell still honour the warranty of repairing them/ Stock has to come from Nikon/ Maxwell original, not overseas stock.

I'd say go for the D2H, if you know the photographer then it can't be too bad.

The D2 cameras fell so good in your hands, why not :D
