First Image of the year.

With everyone getting new bodies, I think that separate section for you to proudly display your first image from your new acquisition is in order.

This applies to brand new bodies, as well as bodies that are simply newly acquired by you.

I've been tied up today, but why not post your very first image of 2008 in this thread?

Fireworks on the Hobart waterfront.
Exif time said 31/12/2007 11.59.32 PM but I'm sure this didn't start until 12.00.

As per my camera this is my first shot of 08, as per the count down my camera is 8 seconds fast. Oh well.

Here's my first image of 2008.

I was attempting to get a shot of a whip spider but my forgetfulness of 2007 has carried over into 2008. I forgot to change the flash compensation back from -1.0EV and I also forgot to increase the shutter speed to try to account for the background. I also had to manually focus as the D300 doesn't seem to like small foreground objects with a light background.

Image

Anyway, a few shots later I got something I was happier with:

Kinda sad first photo really... woke up after not much sleep, staggered out of my tent, saw this bunch oh so proud of their stolen sign... but then there's the first photo of me, a few minutes earlier, looking exceptionally thrilled to see the new year.

Despite that I actually had a good time at the highandry festival :)

my first image was a self portrait taken with my new Pentax DA 40/2.8 pancake lens that arrived yesterday.
The weather was lousy and i really wanted to try it out wide open to see what it was like so the only subject i had handy was me

While technically this is not my first image of the year, it is the first image I have processed from the first outing.

How unusual, the boy :)

He has decided that kneeling on the top of the lounge chair looking through the arched window into the family room at the TV in there is better than what we were watching...
