Sony Alpha A65

With everyone getting new bodies, I think that separate section for you to proudly display your first image from your new acquisition is in order.

This applies to brand new bodies, as well as bodies that are simply newly acquired by you.

Sony Alpha A65

I am sure a lot of you are bewildered by this addition to my kit bag. Fortunately I can calmly inform you all that this is a camera that I have won from a trade competition. But here is the first 24MP image that I have taken with my own Sony Alpha A65, to help make up for the blasphemy of using a kit 18-55 on a Sony I have decided to expend my first shutter actuation on a REAL camera.

Marcus's Leica M4-2 + Voigtlander Nokton Classic 40mm f/1.4

Yes should be fun, I hope to be pulling the trigger on a Sony DT 30mm f/2.8 Macro in the coming days, and have an arsenal of Zeiss lenses available to me through work.

First thoughts:
-low ISO image quality is pretty good
-Auto WB is not as good as my Nikon's or Fuji's
-AF is not as quick as my D300, but with a better lens it should quicken up
-colours are interesting, I have yet to decide if I like the rendition of the Sony, but as I shoot more with this camera I will be in a better position to make comments.
-Menu system - well they "borrowed" Nikon's on board help ("?" button) but they also changed the quick menu format to two column overlay system that is confusing as standard training (from compact cameras with an overlay quick menu) leads you to scroll across to change the setting rather than entering and changing the setting.
-Playback is annoying, it has seperate folders for JPG/RAW, AVCHD, MP4 so you have to go and change the playback menu to view video's and images.....why???

Are you game to update your signature? :biglaugh:

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935.

Ah... you will need some constant aperture 2.8 lenses for this one Cameron. What's this nonsense with a kit lens....
