D300 - first outing

With everyone getting new bodies, I think that separate section for you to proudly display your first image from your new acquisition is in order.

This applies to brand new bodies, as well as bodies that are simply newly acquired by you.

D300 - first outing

Postby cawdor on Sat Jan 26, 2008 8:14 pm

After getting my D300 I couldn't wait to test it, took it to the RC Car WA State Titles on friday. It was good being able to try the different focus modes etc.
Didn't get to try the 8fps mode as I still have to get some alkalines to tie me over until I get the en-el4a etc etc....
Here are some photos, just cropped and resized, no pp:

Some great initial shots Tim!
I don't know what I would have been more excited about though, the RC car racing or the D300!
I love remote controlled cars - what a blast! :) PS - What lens did u have on the D300 for these shots?

Cheers Geoff. I had the 70-200VR on the D300. Wasn't allowed on the track but the access around it was good, nothing was too far away. Though wouldn't have minded a 300mm for some of the shots.
But the good thing with 12mp is that the shots still are good enough to print cropped :)
AF working really well, after some experimenting I ended up using the 21point setting.
I find the D300 focus much more responsive than on the D200 which would hunt for focus quite a bit, especially in high contrast situations. The D300 hasn't hunted yet :)

No doubt for your own safety. You don't want a loose tyre hitting you. :) :) :)

The first one is pretty cool. Nice abstract :)
