Nikkor 105mm f2.5Well, this is not technically the first image from this lens, however I have used it so rarely I was considering selling it off.
This is first time i have specifically gone and used this lens, the main reason was to get some portrait shots, which turned out very nice, I thought i should give it some more time on the camera and see what turns up. The image is one from a fairly long walk where I thought the only lens I should use was the UW, however having this lens on made me look at different compositions etc and I am now glad I made the effort to keep it on and persevere. The Nikkor 105mm f2.5 is in fairly good nick with only the aperture ring being not snappy, the lens however is incredilbly sharp when you actually get the manual focus right. At f2.5 getting this very thin focus plane in the right spot is tricky... anyways, onto the image, the first image that I was truly happy with from this lens.. gerry's photography journey
No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.
Re: Nikkor 105mm f2.5Very nice capture Gerry. So does this mean you have fallen back in love with the 105?

Re: Nikkor 105mm f2.5Absolute classic Gerry!
Love the lines, curves and placement of the peoples! Is this Byron bay?
Re: Nikkor 105mm f2.5Excellent capture! I love the composition, colours and sharpness.
Well done. Alex
Re: Nikkor 105mm f2.5
quite possibly, whilst I was going to sell it, I am thinking I just need to make more of an effort to use it
pfft! you would not catch me anywhere near there during the stupid season! It is actually further south, Diamond Head to be exact, this view is looking south with Crowdy Head in the far distance. All this is about 45mins south of Port Macquarie.
me too, ta! gerry's photography journey

Re: Nikkor 105mm f2.5What a fantastic Image, Gerry!!!
The couple in the foreground really makes the picture special and gives the whole Image a sense of the size of that beach. Love the top third as well with the mist in the air. "Old school" (Olympus OM 1&2SP )
Re: Nikkor 105mm f2.5This works well!
The dark wheel mark in the sand drew me straight to the people on the beach.
Re: Nikkor 105mm f2.5Gerry
The Nikon 105mm is a legendary classic. Use it until you know it and it will produce magic for you. Try head and shoulder portraits at f5.6 and f8.....it will sing. Regards

Re: Nikkor 105mm f2.5
yes, i should try more portraiture with it, I did take some that day but stuck around the f4 mark, these I was particularly happy with and the main reason for taking that lens on the day - I will make more of an effort to use this, I hate having things sit around and not get used gerry's photography journey
