D90 18-200 VR11 First images

With everyone getting new bodies, I think that separate section for you to proudly display your first image from your new acquisition is in order.

This applies to brand new bodies, as well as bodies that are simply newly acquired by you.

Hi all,

I picked up a D90 while in HK, a couple of test shots - by no means my best work. Both hand held

View from Hotel club lounge - as soon as the battery charged

I don't use flickr, however this may help

The picture of the litle boy and the lady is very nice, natural and with happy faces, a good one for the photo album in my opinion. The use of the train to frame them also works well.

No amount of processing will fix bad composition - trust me i have tried.

Biggerry,

Yeah that photo was a quick snap of my wife and son.

What do you use instead of flikr? I just joined so I could post images, happy to use something else if it is better.

You can use any file hosting site. Flickr works well, but so do any number of others. It is just a matter of getting the syntax right.
Go to the photo you want to put here. Click the "Share" button set to bbCode and set the desired photo size. The rules state no bigger than 800 on the widest side. I recommend no bigger than 750 ( I upload to Flickr at this resolution - it gives me the control over photo quality)

Copy the code it offers you:
Code: Select all
[url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/29374556@N06/5835166569/][img]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5198/5835166569_800d6f16f5_b.jpg[/img][/url]

and paste it here
This gives you

I usually edit out the second line so I end up with
Code: Select all
[url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/29374556@N06/5835166569/][img]http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5198/5835166569_800d6f16f5_b.jpg[/img][/url]

This takes out the line of text. You still get the link back to Flickr which is in their T&C as a requirement. Just not as clunky. Thus
Image

If you want, you can get really fancy & link back to a different resolution, or to the "on-black" image, but I never bother.

And yes. I really like the second shot too.

Glad to be of help.
One other trap with Flickr is that if you are a free member & repost a photo (or your upload software does) it will break all the links you have already made to that photo. It is to avoid this that I pay my annual fee for a pro account. I am by no means a pro photographer.
