Big thanks from me too. Nearly 6 hours offline, I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms

I have just arrived home from work, turned on the computer to read my e-mail's for the day, and then went to connect to D70users.com and message come up, can't connect. I thought to myself what am I going to do tonight without my fix. After responding to a message from Birddog, I then received another message from him to say it was up and running. Now I am very happy. :D :D :D :D :D :D .
Thank you to everyone who assisted in getting the network up and running again. 8)

Cheers,

It's actually just 1:30 am here right now.

And it's Leigh who needs to be thanked, along with his younger brother.

Glen sent me an SMS about 4:40; it came to me just as I wasreturning to the hotel after dinner.Leigh was out, but clearly there was a serious issue: I could see no further than the router for the webserver, and I couldn't see the newserver (which comes in through a different router) or its router.

That stuck me as strange - why would I have one router, plus the server (connected to a different router) out?

The best I could figure it was that a power cable had been kicked, or something along those lines.

It transpires that my diagnosis was pretty well spot on: someone and his brother (both of whom shall remain nameless) wanted to try out a different motherboard, and in so playing around with the hardware at home picked the wrong box to do this with. That was the server!

In doing that, and messing with the cables at the back, they also managed to disconnect the power supply to a router; as both servers traverse our internal network through that router, there's the primary source of the problem!

Many apologies for the inconvenience, but at least it gave you all a few hours to go out and take a few photos, instead of sitting around on your bums thinking of things to post here. :)

Okay. Ignore my request to hesitate before asking. Dad just said it all.

It'd be great if a person who'll remain nameless would mark what the machines were. :)

I'm still confused in how the damn thing is still running...

(1) Put some batteries in the labelling machine.

(2) It's Linux, not Windoze.

It's still not logical, even for Linux.

The fan has stopped... freaky.

Hi Gary,

be nice to your son. After all he is the one in AU who is
plugging the right plugs and switching the right switches.
He may have caused downtime in the first instance, but he ist the one
who is doing the necessary doings to get forum.d70users.com up again.

Cheers

Good to see that at least one person here has a life. :)

Christiand, the fact that it was Leigh who pulled the plug is not an issue at all for me. Stuff happens, and it's best to not dwell on it. The important thing is that he was able to bring everything back on line quickly, and for that he has my thanx and appreciation.

As well as that of the whole community here.
