How long after loading before the avatar displays on your posts

Should be instantly Bob... if it isnt right, the profile will refresh and tell you what is wrong with your chosen avatar.. either it wasnt within the 100x100 pixel size limits.. or over 6kb

Thanks Tim

I reduced it to under the 100 x 100 pixels but it is still 31 Kb

What can I do about that

bob:

I started using an avatar not too long ago and found that it didnt seem to work correctly.

the issue is that there is a .net site and a .com site and the 2 syncronise periodically and then the avatar is visible on both.

so if you upload the avatar on the .net site, if you go to the .com site and look at a post, there will be no avatar until the sites sync.

when uploading it you will see it immediately
(on the site you uploaded it to )assuming the avatar is within the size constaints

as far as size bob,
try reducing the quality of the jpg,
and or
reducing the colours to 256

Save as a .gif file, 6kb will be easy then.

Not looking good Bob - unless your avatar is the dreaded red cross.

I can see it now - I log in via the .net version of the site if that matters.

Nice avatar from a great shot :D

At the posts level, the .com is instantaneous.

At the avatar and related images directory, that's not so instantaneous.

And "Save For Web" in Adobe Photoshop is how you minimise it.
