Just floating a balloon here to evaluate interest....

How many members would be interested in purchasing a 2008 DSLR calendar?

I'd suggest Iit would be A3+ in size 1 month to a page, 1 photo and large numbers for the dates.

I think any projected event dates for DSLR Users could be incorporated into the calendar.

This is not a profit generating project merely a promotional one....

I would imagine the costs to run sub $20, but to get the ball rolling we need to evaluate as to whether it is a good idea or not and what interest there is.

interested!

this is a great idea, and maybe we could run it as a competition... I think the participation rate would be high!

Maybe the 12 best pics of the week make up the images by a vote.

I would buy one.

We can either run a competition before end of the year and choose 12 images by vote, or just pick them up from our already great selection of great POTWs...

I have my hands up for one of these :D

My other suggestion is to have few 'versions' of the calendar, so we can give a chance to members who got a POTW to show their work... Just a thought...

52 POTWs, by 4 versions... not too bad right?

But ofcourse, we need to ask for copyright permissions to all these POTW winners. :D

Tony,

I'd be keen. I'll also need to call you about doing some other calendars up for the family for Christmas and some business cards. ;)

Cheers

Simon

Here you go chaps. This works brilliantly and makes professional calendars at A4 or A3 from your own pics.

Great tip Matt.

First impressions, looks like a reasonable bit of software!

I'd be interested.

Another forum I am part of did a PDF version & print your own......

So no publishing costs, and it came up alright even as A4 and a cheap colour inkjet - a Canon MFC MP730 did OK.

And just laser printed the date page on the other A4, and spiral bound with a plastic comb similar to the coil bound calendars in stores.

Just a comment on image selection. Very soon we'll be announcing the annual Christmas dinner in Sydney and leading up to that will be the usual Picture Of The Year nomination process where you'll all be voting for the POTW that you liked best.

While it may, Tony is suggesting a sub $20 cost for what he's suggesting.

I'm not sure that, with printing your own, you'd actually be saving a whole lot of money. Consider that you need to use high end paper (that's not really suitable for this purpose either, FWIW), and that not everyone has a R1800 for printing A3 images.

Also consider that a DIY version is somewhat defeating the purpose of what Tony's suggesting - that we find a dozen great images, and that we make them available to all in a manner that is inexpensive, but easily accessible.

So .. let's get back to the point and find out who is interested in Tony's suggestion.

On Peter's comment, yes ... our Chrissie dinner is all organised; I just need to do some back-end stuff and we can announce the details for you, and associated with that is the PotY selection process, which involves everyone here voting for their favourites from the various PsotW.

I am not sure what sort of timings Tony might need, but I like the idea of melding these two concepts together, but not to the detriment of PotY. That means that the timing becomes paramount, and that's something that I need to explore with Scott and Tony, and probably all of the PotW winners too. :)

sounds good to pick the top 12 images [as voted by the members] out of the POTW entries for the pics on it.

i also like the idea of large squares for the dates so you can write events down on it [prefer with sat and sun at the right hand end]

i'll put my hand up for one 8)
