NDG vs NEF

I just tried the Adobe NDG and converted some NEFs. Interesting, the final size of the NDG is actually close to 8MB instead of 4 or close..

I am sure I enabled the loseless compression on in NDG converter software..

Am I right on this?

I'm seeing file sizes slightly smaller. - 5MB downsizes to 4MB

Maybe it's time I switch back to shooting raw... the only reason I don't is because of this limited compatibility issue. If this new standard takes off - photo printing places would surely be able to read DNG files and won't insist on TIF or JPGs.

Onyx,
Yes, it's new standard and all the cam makers will be heading this way.
I tried few sets early this morning and like it, perhaps will be more good for archiving and storage. Then the storage device's makers will be on full steam mood.

An interesting point about the new DNG format.

Downloaded RAW and converted to DNG. Went into browser in Photoshop CS and opened both a DNG and NEF file of the same photo.

On screen the NEF file was a lot cleaner than the DNG without any post processing!
