IMHO, it's worth to update, I did on my PCs and NC is loading lot faster in between the new and old.
Well recommended!!!!, I did burn few copies for members who has trouble of downloading or no access to broadband or cable modem.

Mac users also have Nikon View update too.
I've downloaded and tried the Capture update... no perceived difference to me.

The windows is definitely faster, maybe they just kidded you mac guys so you didn't feel left out?
