Photoshop and myself have a very toxic relationship. I need her to make my photos look good, but I wish she was a little more intuitive, so I wasn't struggling for hours on one aspect of the photo (ie, trying to select the right area and adjust brightness without it looking fake etc.) My goal is to be able to spend 10 minutes per photo in Photoshop and be done with it unless I have some kind of crazy vision.

I get so lost in there, and the more I look at the photo, the more I wonder if I've done too much, I lose the ability to really see the photo I want to see in my head with all of the little tricks that you can do in there. It's really weird.

I'm hoping that through posting photos here people will give me some suggestions on improving my photos with aspects of photoshop.

Most beginners try and do too much in Photoshop and end up stuffing their pictures. The more experienced you become the less you will find yourself butchering your pics. I find that mostly a tweak of the levels/and or curves....touch up the spots and sharpen just about does it.

It's good to hear this. You read on magazines or posts of how people did something, or here's a cool trick...followed by pages of instructions and I think, damn that seems like a lot of work. Then when I'm finished working it on my own images I look at the original and think, "I like the old one better". It seems like in most magazines, I read that the more you do the better. Thanks for the advice.
