EXIF editing software

I'm trying to add some of the data frim when I shoot on fully manual lenses back into the image and I'm not having much luck finding a good EXIF editor.

Has anyone found one yet?

Hi Leigh, have you tried Exifier? I know that you can export and then import, but unsure whether you can manually enter the exif data.

I've used the export/import functions of BreezeBrowser to good effect, as well as playing with Exifer. BB worked for me because I was doing bulk entry of basic details to a lot of scans.

A great tool is exiftool - no prize for guessing the name!

All you need is perl. On the page above, there is a link to a Windows perl interpreter. I use it and it's easy and very powerful. BTW, would also be easy to automate a large exif change to multiple files.

It will run on Windows, Macs, Linux, probably even Atari

Yep, I'd go with radar's suggestion of exiftool. It's a great piece of software. Can extract and edit exif/metadata from a wide range of file formats including NEFs.

And that tool is Opanda Power EXIF. With the registered version you can replace ANY EXIF data - even move it between images.

You need to be very careful with that though... For a couple of challenges, I tried to remove my EXIF using notepad and it managed to corrupt the image and I had to reprocess... I now use Jstrip to remove all the extraneous EXIF.

True, I should have added some sort of attempt at your own risk, and I did have some problems with notepad, but I have been able to edit the exif using better text editors such as notpad2 and gedit (in linux).

None the less you would be much better off using an app that is made for the task.
