Does anybody use PDA protectors on this? I've protected my LCD screen but this cover has quite a clear appearance and wondered if it's worth doing. Not sure how much Nikon charge to replace the cover.

I imagine Nikon would charge an arm and a leg to replace it.

I put PDA covers on both screens of my D70 as soon as I got it. They were put on in January and I have yet to change them...but they are badly scratched and marked. I would encourage everybody to do the same because it will keep your camera in good condition and help maintain its resale value.

Yeah I've screened both LCDs but I'm talking about the clear/whitish BM-4 clip on LCD protector that you get with the D70.

Received my Belkin screen covers this morning and thought bugger how to I cut it to size?
What I did was to place the D70 on my flat bed scanner and scan the back of the camera. In PS I deep etched out the LCD screen area and printed it out. Instead of cutting out the template I placed the whole thing over the Belkin and then used sellotape to hold it in position. Then I cut it out and et voila a clear pda screen for the D70.
This is better for me as the Canon Angle Finder caught on the top of the supplied plastic screen protector.
I would recommend doing this to every D70 owner.

You want to put a screen protector on everyone? That's gotta hurt coming off!
Good idea though, thanks. I just had the cover on it, but tonight will add the protectors to both LCDs.

It would be damn site better than that old condom you've been using for the last year.

Gee....Guys! The repartee is.....amazing? I met a young stud of a Turkish immigrant once who told me he would never do it without wearing a "condor"? I'd keep my D70 in the bag if I saw that sight.

Is there some potential for an amusing juxtaposition of the condom over the lens talk with "Challenge 3 - A different perspective" ?

It could be called “what the condom sees” - just fit one over the lens and off you go. Would have to be on the watch out for perverts!!

I don’t know if this has been posted but this is an American company that makes covers specifically for the D70 and SB800/600:

Hi,
I think this is a similar product of screen protector for PDA.
You can call in one of your local Officework or HN store and buy a pack of PDA screen protector, bring home and DIY.
They have few variation products for difference sizes and cost from AU$8.00 - AU$15.00 per pack of 5 or 6 or 12 sheets.

I found a thin piece of plastic & made up a template of the rear screen.
Now when replacing the PDA cover I just cut around that & it fits perfect.
Cheers

does anyone have the template of the rear screen they can post? I don't have means to scan or photograph it (unless i use a few mirrors i guess).
I bought the PDA screen covers from Officeworks but then spent ages cutting out a shape that kind of resembles the shape of the rear screen. It may not look pretty but it does the job.
