50mm lenshood?

Those nice to know things about your DSLR will be found here. How to do this, and why you probably should not do that.

50mm lenshood?

Postby beetleboy on Sun Aug 27, 2006 8:14 pm

I'm after a tip or trick for this one!!

I did a pregnany shoot in the studio recently and noticed I was getting a bit of flare with the 50mm 1.8 (I assume the 1.4 would be similar).

I've just downloaded this cutout .pdf lens hood but fear it may look a little naff to clients! Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks in advance.

nikon have one ...... but you should be able to get an after market rubber one...... from most camera stores..... or tape a bit of black card around the lens

How does the Nikon one attach to the 1.8 as it doesn't have a twist-lock thingy? Not sure if the 1.4 has one...

I've got the Nikon lens hood (HR-2) for my 50mm f/1.4. The f/1.8 lens uses the same hood. It's just a ribber pop out hood that screws into a 52mm filter thread. The hood works well and packs fairly flat. I use it all the time.
