Going to Ayers RockGoing to the Red Centre on Wednesday for 4 days, it will be my first visit to Kings Canyon, The Olgas and Uluru. Any tips/recommendations for day/night/sunrise/sunset photos? I'm using a Canon 350D with EF 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 DO IS USM lens. Also have an 18-55mm lens, as well as Hoya Super HMC Pro 1 UV filter.
Re: Going to Ayers Rock
Just one; realise that the name "Ayers Rock" is very offensive to the people that never accepted that Ernest Giles had the right to "give" the rock to Sir Henry Ayers.
Re: Going to Ayers RockAlong with that, you should also take a load of memory or storage.
The rock goes through so much colour change in a good sunset or sunrise that you will go nuts with the shutter I am sure. There are also so many angles you could consider. Regards Colin Regards Colin

Re: Going to Ayers RockI did the same sort of trip last year.
It goes without saying that sunrise and sunset at Uluru is worth it. The usual spots are filled with tourists, but it isn't a problem. There is a nice lookout on the way to The Olgas where you can see Uluru and Kata Tjuta at dawn. But you will need your 70-300mm there.
I hope you are taking a tripod. The dawn and dusk shots really need one. Have fun. Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm
