This is an article that I am starting to write, it contains a comparison of ISO quality and image quality in the Nikon D70. Once again, feel free to read, comment and let me know generally what it's like!! :P

Thanks!

This comparison would probably work better if you used jpg compression rather than gif as your images are suffering from a bit of dithering caused by the reduced colour range that gif is capable of (256).

Also, I think you'll find jpg is the most commonly used compression on the net..gif is reserved more for animations and graphics that don't require too many colours.

Hey there Dragon Star,
Its an interesting comparo, good to see it all on one page.
BB is right about using JPEG's though. You will much better display your images in this format.
Keep working on this page though and let us know how you go. A good reference for new D70 users and others alike.
Cheers,
Tim :D

The reason the RAW files sem to be a bit noisier is because the camera has not carried out any processing to remove it. The JPG files are processed by the camera. I think you''ll find that removing the noise from a RAW file will result in a cleaner image then a comparable JPG cleaned by the camera. This presupposes that care is taken with the process.
