Black & White using camera RAW

By setting saturation to minus 100 then change to CALIBRATE, use the sliders here to get the result that you require, the sliders operate as if there was color, but in black and white, this method gives very fine control over your image. Have fun

I think a better way is to use the channel mixer adjustment layer, tick the monochrome box and play around with the sliders.

That also leaves your colour layer intact.

The difference between the 2 methods are ...... using camera raw is a NON destructive method as you are working in the raw file space, and you can go back and reprocess as B&W or color as offen as you like, using the channel mixer is a destructive method as your file is opened

Not everyone knows how to use layers, so using the raw converter is very simple
