Sigma 105mm macro lens cap

Postby sirhc55 on Tue May 03, 2005 11:21 pm

For all of you 105mm Sigma lens owners a little tip I found on the web.

As you all know if you use the lens hood on this lens you have to take it off to put the lens cap on - not good.

The lens hood is actually 77mm wide and will take a 77mm lens cap and also (I believe) a 77mm filter.

Nice tip. That was something that annoyed me.

Now to find a 77mm lens cap.

Van bar sell a V-Tec 77mm lens cap (Ref No: C-177):

Plastic with 2 spring loaded grips, locked with lens filter thread.

AUD Inc. Tax: $5.50 AUD Ex. Tax: $5.00 Export: USD 3.83

Would probably do the job and certainly beats paying the price for the Nikon jobby.

I just happened to have a 77mm UV filter, I've had it on the hood since I bought the lens. May be a good Idea to buy a 77mm cap to protect the UV anyway.
