Misc links - Jan 2011While trawling the interweb I occasionally bump into interesting photography links which I think others might be interested in but don't deserve a post of their own, so I thought I'd summarise what I've seen in the last month. Enjoy:
Photo Tips: Camera flash soft box http://www.ikeahackers.net/2011/01/came ... t-box.html Since there has been some discussions recently about softboxes, here is a nifty one using a box from Ikea. I think the box name listed is incorrect, it looks like should be a Skubb Box. Make Light Painting Circles With Light http://diyphotography.net/make-lighting ... with-light A neat trick of using a paint roller to make perfect light circles. The author's photo stream is really worth viewing: Dennis Calvert. [via LifeHacker] What to do when you break your camera http://www.digital-photography-school.c ... our-camera Some sensible suggestions to follow when you damage your camera. I'm sure we all know this already. [via LifeHacker] Interesting: Flash bulb at 1052fps http://fstoppers.com/what-your-cameras- ... t-1052fps/ Just 13 seconds of an old style flash bulb burning in slow-mo. Worth seeing in HD. [via Petapixel via Gizmodo] Lightning Captured by X-Ray Camera http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... echnology/ A 680kg X-ray camera shooting ten million images per second sounds great... but at only 0.00003 megapixels (30 pixels). [via Gizmodo] The Internet being surprising: eBay auction of a battered old camera for US$104,000 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 740wt_1705 That does seem expensive. The Leica MP-36 was apparently owned by Leif Engberg. [via PetaPixel via Gizmodo] Camera speakers http://www.gadget4all.com/prod_detail.php?prod_id=01989 Another case of people making things in the shape of a DSLR. Why would you do this? [via Gadget4all via GadgetSin via ChipChick via Gizmodo] If you find these interesting let me know and I'll keep an eye out in the future. Re: Misc links - Jan 2011The softbox link might come handy for some of the keen attendees of the portrait seminar. Or maybe they will just visit the Profoto website...
