Finally... a REAL upgrade... let's hope the $599 US actually sees a real conversion into something that isn't near the ridiculously overblown prices that we get here.

AE? Is that another term for OEM?

Leigh, I think Birddog means Academic Edition...
Thanks for the link Chris... I was just about to buy the current version... I might wait a month instead... Adobe already stung me that way with
PS Elements...

Looks like the site isn't quite as up-to-date as we are in some respects ... from their March 24 entry "& first look at the Epson P-2000."
How long has Birddog had his? 6 months now ?
hmmmm .....

Does the 32 bit high Dynamic range editing apply to D70 or only the higher end cameras? that sounds great as 16 is already such an improvement over 8 bit.
Gary, it seems that the Epson p2000 is only just hitting the shelves. I've been feeling like a complete weirdo asking around at camera stores and electronic shops etc and they never heard of it. Even the Epson Reps didn't know anything about it, it was so confusing. How Birdie got one so quick I'll never know.

That might be a more personal question than I'm willing to find out.
Business software tends to have a simulatenous release date (unlike gaming software) and Adobe's ordering system seems to imply a May 2005 release... so I'd imagine sometime in May.

Standard Adobe licensing allows their products to be installed on two machines.
We have been beta testing this for a while here at work, current projected release date for UK is start of july.

D70 is actually 12 bit, but can be edited as 16 bit in
PS from RAW.
I don't think individual files will benefit much from being converted to 32 bit. However, it sounds like it will allow the combination of multiple exposed shots to extend the DR in 32 bit which would be fantastic for catching such things as landscape shots.

Adobe announced the released of
PSCS 2 same as Nikon announnced the released of the D2x. End of May is released date, shipping will be July or August, in your hand will be End of August, run properly with no bugs, or patches to fix, RAW plug ins for the D50 or D70s , end up the perfect stage of this new born baby is Dec. 05.

Yes, I had a brief training/ intro to this at Adobe Seminar!.
Very aggressively hardware requirements as high end P4 CPU or MAC G4/ G5, 2Gb memory, talking about 1/2 terrabyte fast disks and big space for scratched disk, good video card with maximum memory of 256Mb.
Testing on 20Mb RAW file of the D2x, it flies, more features, more benefits if you're happy to lay out more cash with hardware upgrade.

Only got Premium Suite a few months ago... looks like its time for another upgrade!
some nice looking features in
PS CS2:
* automated batch processing
* advanced noise reduction (about time!)
* gif creation (no more imageready!)
* spot healing brush / one-click red eye
* smart objects (hurrah for illustration integration!)
* multiple layer control
cant see the justification for features such as the vanishing point.
New features for indesign and illustrator look well worth an upgrade also.

I'm certaily interested in this one but won't be buying until Sept or Oct. If anyone has had time to play with it before then, I'd love to hear their thoughts.
Some of the new features look very cool

Every so often, it's completely necessary.

No.
An occasional bout of potential self-preservation.
One post contained some content that we deemed to be inappropriate, so we brought that to the attention of the original poster and asked them if they would be so good as to address the problem.
In the meantime, someone else quoted the inappropiate content, so we then needed to have that poster also deal with what we percieved may be a potential problem.
In both cases the posters readily saw our point and made the changes necessary; we didn't actually ask that the posts be deleted, but I can see that it may have difficult to reword the original offending post in a creative manner without still remaining unacceptable, hence deletion was probably the more expedient choice to be taken.

As the offending party, I'd just like to clear the air.
I made a post, at the time in relative innocence. Leigh PM'ed me and made a good point and asked me to re-post with different wording. For a quick fix, I considered it best to delete the post altogether. There was definitely no heavy-handedness on part of the administrators.
I'd also like to explain that the problem related to a copyright issue, which could have placed D70users in an awkward position. And, finally, I'd also like to state that the original post was in no way offensive, blasphemous, pornographic or otherwise "off-colour".
Cheers

Which is a shame, too.
(The bit about it not being pornographic.)
