No, it's smaller than 28-70 and less popular with DSLR due to its focal lenght on 1.5x crop factor. Birddog114

AFAIK, it's the optical equivalent of the more expensive lens, but without AF-S and is a push-pull zoom. It's an excellent lens and a good value, IMO.
