more lens lust with a hint of d2x lust thrown in400vr handheld have seen lots of pix of these black shouldered kites but up until today I hadnt managed to even see one for real. They have amazing eyes This one was 20 or more metres away and only filled about 1/16th of the frame but I am happy now cos I have seen one. Now all I need to do is get some better shots of them.... lens lust developing, not to mention d2x lust comments from the resident birdmen and others appreciated Steve
Sorry to be harsh, I think it's overexposed. The bird's forehead and face has blown white patches, not to mention the aqua sky - a telltale sign that the blue channel's clipped.
Nice composition though. The blood red eyes are definitely unique.

is very sad that I only noticed the blown forehead after someone pointed it out to me, but I was sure it wasnt that bad initially.
I went back to the original image and it wasnt quite that bad. Reposted without autolevels on photoshop. Tad darker overall. Think I liked the other image slightly better(except for the blown forehead of course original was shot at +1ev but +.3 or +.6 may have been better??
I thought it was a good enough pic ,i would just have cropped out the pole a little more as i feel it is a bit distracting, keep trying , as Kipper will tell you they aint easy suckers to photograph well, the great bird guys spend weeks to get a worldbeating pic
