Epson P-2000 photo ViewerDoes anyone have actual experience using the Epson P-2000 photo viewer? My reserach indicated that it supports the Nikon RAW .NEF format but at the expense of other featues like Zooming, Rotation, and Slide Show. Any comments? Any feedback will be preciated.
Thanks in advance.
Have a look at this thread
A tip for things like this is to use the forum Search feature (at the top of most pages). To locate this my search was Epson and p-2000 (the AND means I want both words to be found in the same thread to get a match) I got a number of matches of which this thread was the most useful from a quick glance. If you look around you'll find plenty more here on this. The P-2000 is a great toy, but expensive. Peter

EPSON P2000Thanks Peter,
I looked at the information on the forum, still I would like to hear from someone the is actually used it for a while. It cost only c$ 650 in Canada and is readily available. I am being told that many Pros love it, I just would like to hear from someone directly.
Hi Dobe,
I got one of these units about 3 weeks ago. It's well made and the screen is awesome! Very clear images. As far as NEF goes, you can view and store the image, but thats about it. Not a big deal. If you're worried about sharpness and whether or not to keep an image, I think you'll find the screen large enough to make the descision. A work mate of mine got it for me from Hong Kong for AU$600 plus it came with a free Epson 310R printer. I was stoked! Hope this helps. Cheer, Jase. Jase - 'Motorcycle Gallery' - 'Car Gallery'
Thanks JaseHi Jase,
You got the unit at a great price. Can you use other features with the NEF format like a slide show, or zooming, if you want to share your pictures with others? Also having used it for a while would you recommend that I purchase the unit? Thanks
Dobe
I gather you live in Canada. Suggest you add your location to your profile. Birddog also has one of these and is more than happy with it. Having played with his I want one but live in hope a newer better model will come out in the next year or so. Peter

Sorry Dobe, been meaning to post back here, but kept getting sidetracked by another post.
As far as NEF goes, you can only store and view. No other fancy stuff like slideshow, rotate and zoom. I myself would just store the NEFs as they'll most likely be PP'ed anyway. Once you've PP'ed, you can place them back as JPG and in smaller files. There's heaps space on the HD so I would'nt worry about filling it up in a hurry. Slideshow can be slow as it does a fancy close-up scroll over of the image before showing the image in full. A bit time consuming. Much quicker to flick through the images at a press of a button IMHO. If you can see one in action at your local camera store, I'm sure it will blow your mind!
