First pictures from a newbie and D70

Critique away, let me have it.
The two pcitures of the dime (smallest american coin) were taken with the 70-300mm mounted on the camera and the 60mm micro reversed on it (lens to lens) as an experiment for about 7x mag and one inch away from it. The little car is a cigarrette lighter about 2 inches long.
Help me become a better shooter with your coments.

Wow, a great collection of pics!

I like shot #1, (its an egg whisk right ?).

Shot #2 its better then my spider shots, but something doesn't work for me, possibly that sharp rear leg (RHS) freaking me out.

Shot #4, I'm Jealous! (I'm in a moon shooting phase, and I'm yet to reproduce a good shot like this).

Shot 5, 6 A very interesting, its amazing some of the fine detail that is picked up. The OOF ares are a little distracting for me however.

Lastly I love the little car, and the reflection underneath it.


A good collection of varied shots.

Hi Marcos - welcome to the forum

#1 I liked but some of the reflections in the background were distracting for me.
#2 - some more DOF would have been nice but not sure how doable that is with your configuration
#3 - Maybe a bit more saturation
#4 - looks good
#5 - doesn't do anything for me
#6 - nearly an industrial shot with the mixed metals and roughed edges
#7 - certainly interesting!
#8 - nice shot depite being overly cropped at left

1. Yes alpha, an egg wisk (I'm also a chef), .....Paul, point taken.
2. I couldn't get another position since that little spider was right at the corner of the wall, and that day I didn't know how to get more dof, is was just with the 60mm micro.
3. Saturation will help Paul
4. It took about 22 shots with different settings to get that one and a little pp, some contrast and sharpenning.
5 and 6 were experimental shots just to find out how close I can get to objects with the two lenses, pure curiosity, they're not to suppose to do anything else, just experimentation.
7. Dead bug and ant on my driveway, couldn't find anything else for first macro shot.
8. Thank you Paul, but it was done on purpose, that picture will be on the cover of a souvenir and variety store catalog, to the right of the car the title and another small photo.

If these are your 1st attempts, they sure leave my 1st attempts by the wayside.

Very good, different collection from Macro to Moon & everything in between.

Thank you Mic! I was trying different options and settings so I could learn the camera. I'm not much into landscape shooting, I feel affinity for macro, due to the detail and patterns not visible to the naked eye, and food photography (stock) which I'll be shooting (testing with fruits and vegetables) this coming weekend with a friend of mine, I'll post some later.
