Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Doesn't that bee have a hive to go to??? ;-)

Having spent some time trying to catch a photo of bees in flight last weekend - I know how hard it would have been to get that shot...

That said - I would probably find it more engaging if I was looking at the front half of the bee :-)
Cheers, John

Dion,

Going by your signature I would guess that this is the product of your 100mm macro. It is a lens I have been considering and so the picture is not only rewarding for its delicacy and skilled timing but is also quite enlightening.

Many thanks,

I can feel the BZZZZZZZZZ from here, and I would much rather see the stinging part than not know where it is. First class effort :D :D

I like the detail and depth of field you have achieved in this one. Bit of a shame we can't see the bee's head. Also a great exposure given the colour of the flower. did you use flash?

Hi Jordan,

Yes I think I did use the flash, albeit in high-speed sync mode (ie, not 1/250th).

As Craig said, you've really handled the exposure well in this shot Dion. The detail could have been easily blown but you've kept it in check. Nice work. :)
