The 70-200vr is excellent, but the 300 F/2.8 + TC17 for take a pictures on sport mecanic is fabulous.
Look, its a convert raw to jpeg, no modification with photoshop etc. Full size, full manuel. http://alex2k5.free.fr/fullsize/DSC_0143.jpg http://alex2k5.free.fr/fullsize/DSC_0147.jpg I'm french nikon user, sorry for my english

I agree the 70-200VR is a good lens, and works well for sports photography. I've used it at the Australian Formula One with TC17IIE. However it doesn't cut it for nature and that's what I'm into now
Plus if I get the 300MM F2.8 on top of this other lens I'm planning on getting would do for both sports and nature. Darryl (aka Kipper)
Nikon D200
Alex, as a bike fan as well and i also take a lot of pics of bikes i too like Darryl am looking at this lens as well, although a friend i know has an older version so i am waiting to see if i can pick that up at a good price.
Your shots are great i gues with the reach you can get good corner shots like this. Well done. Cheers John BBJ D3,D2x,D70,18-70 kit lens,Sigma 70-200mm F2.8EX HSM,Nikon AF-I 300m F2.8, TC20E 2X

The bike shots are sensational, with amazing colour, I agree with the comment about the heat haze, now if only they were Kawasaki's, I would be real happy! Keep them coming, Max President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Vous l'avez traduit correctement. Je proposais que vous devriez renoncer à votre travail actuel et prendre la photographie.
(You did translate it correctly. I was suggesting that you should give up your current job and take up photography.) Michael

Just a few i take a lot of pics and enjoy it, and i am off to the Moto GP here in Australia in october so looking forward to it. Cheers D3,D2x,D70,18-70 kit lens,Sigma 70-200mm F2.8EX HSM,Nikon AF-I 300m F2.8, TC20E 2X

Alex. Awesome shots. You and BBJ will get on well
Question for either of you or BBJ. When you are panning and the vehicle is coming towards you, as well as around the corner, eg on a 45deg angle to where you are standing. Do you pan following the path of the vehicle, or do you just pan left to right?? I was having some problems with doing some panning where some cars were ALMOST coming towards me head-on (say around 30deg to left side), then round a 100deg lefthand corner and then almost perpendicular to me on their right side as they were coming out of the corner. I couldnt figure out how I should be panning at various spots through the corner! Hope ya can understand what Im trying to ask and can help Smile; it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
Fantastic shots, Alex. I like to take photos of motorsport events too, but mine still have a ways to go to be as good as yours.

Robboh,i follow the bike of course in some cases you dont need to pan if it coming towards you like on a head on. If i have this happen like if they are doing a wheelie i quickly up my shutter speed as you dont need a slow shutter speed to show motion. But in all cases i will pan and follow the bike till i have taken the shot, because storage is not a problem for me i can take lots of shots.

Thanks mate. Hmm, sounds like was doing it right then. I should have mentioned that I was also up on top of a barrier wall, so the car was a bit below me. Felt really weird to be panning to the left and down, then stopping the downwards and then off to the right. Smile; it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
OH Robboh, i dont use a monopod either i find they restrict me a bit and well i think they should be used like a fishing holster around the waist and sit the monopod leg in it and shoot instead of having it on the ground.
But i do all my shots handheld, i got a biggggg body to move around and can handle holding the lens all day. Shutter speeds for me is between 160 to 300 faster in coming straight at you. Spot metering and single area focussing. Cheers D3,D2x,D70,18-70 kit lens,Sigma 70-200mm F2.8EX HSM,Nikon AF-I 300m F2.8, TC20E 2X

For the ducati pictures i was on the track, for other i am behind the barrier hall. Now i work with the focus manuel and expo manuel, generally at 1/320, 1/250, 1/400, 1/500 and 1/640, it is different according to the pilots and that i want to doing. I shoot with the measure spot balanced. ps : sorry for my english ^^ I'm french nikon user, sorry for my english
