Expose yourself, long exposureCovered quite a bit of ground this weekend, i guess like Leigh i get bored too.
walked around with 12-24DX and a SB800. Shot in strobe mode 10Hz, with red gel, 3 second exposure, white balance 3700Kelvin, 12mm. Same deal, longer exposure 15 sec, with some glowstix, white balance 57000Kelvin glowstix work best in total darkness, sb800 set on rear flash, 8 secs, red gell, white balance 57000K, 12mm 30 secs, flags at darling harbour Rastafarian man, 8 secs, red gel, strobe flash, white ballance 3700K birds circling bridge feasting on bugs, 1 minute exposure ISO 300, whitebalance 3700K I like this shot because it reminds me of lonely urban nights midnight marauding. 1 sec, with rear flash, ISO 300, white balance 6500K Notice the couple on the right they are sooo in loove they pashed for a minute long hardly moving as the 1 minute exposure shows Last edited by wendellt on Sun Aug 28, 2005 8:15 pm, edited 2 times in total.

Bloody ( ) amazing photos. I knew that you were out there but these are really fun images. The last one seems somewhat out of place with the others though.

Well done wendellt, all very interesting shots, I love long exposures at night. I have to say though that the last two shots are in a league of their own though. The second last looks very trippy and cool.
Nice of that couple to oblidge you as well. Cyrus It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter.

These are fantastic - the strobe effect photos are reason enough for me to lust after the SB800. I get the feeling you could create a good "10 second exposure" competition entry with some of your ideas

I really look forward to seeing your image posts, as I know I will see something amazingly different, and you have never disappointed! Theses are just brilliant, and if I have to pick a favourite, it would be #1, followed very closely behind by #7.

Wendell, keep up with your style. You're always producing different things that we don't normally expect (eg. portfolio shoot).
Have to try out this strobe effect on the sb-800, haven't seen that one yet. Darryl (aka Kipper)

Great shots Wendell. Fav is the second last one but also like the bridge shot. At that time of night I suspect it's Little Bentwings or other insectivorous bats engaged in the feeding frenzy rather than birds.
I've experimented a little with the strobe features of the SB800 but can see I will have to get out more often. Thanks for this very inspiring display. Simon
