Flower Festival - Newcastle Christ Church Cathedral

Hi,

for those that are interested in flowers, the Flower Festival is on at the Newcastle Christ Church Cathedral, Sept 2-5, Fri to Mon. On Saturday night, there is a "Twilight, Wine & Flowers" 6pm-7:30pm. I wish I could go, but got an ice hockey game to go to.

The evening sounds interesting:

"Appreciate the beauty of the Festival flowers whilst sipping prestige Hunter Wines, and listening to wonderful music"

It is meant to be spectacular.

I'll try to get to it on Sunday, but will miss out on the wines

There is an admission fee: $15 for the Sat. wine bit and $7 at other times, concession $5 and children $3. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Times are:
-Fri 10-5
-Sat 9-5
-Sun 11:30-5
-Mon 9-1

Thanks for posting this. Having read your post I was very keen to go, then I looked at the very ordinary photos in the link yuou posted and have decided not to. While the cathedral itself is magnificent, if the flowers are as sparse as the shots show I'd rather just go to king edward park or Hunter Valley gardens where there are plenty of flowers in the ground!

I've seen it in the tourist booklet last week which I got for Hilop, but not interested in it though.
I better spend time at some other places as the Hunter Valley gardens as you mentioned.

That link does not really show the flowers in a good light, does it? It is all flower arrangements, just thought that some may be interested. If I end up going, I'll let you know what you missed, or didn't miss
