I'm afraid week nights aren't suitable to me either, which is why I haven't so far participated in this thread. A weekend, preferably Saturday, is best for me. However, I recognise the difficulty of finding a time that would suit absolutely everyone, and so, if the majority would prefer a week night, I would do my best, but I would only be a possible at best. John Lomas of BCG Digital has posted a digital meet for Sept 5th this coming Monday. Unfortunately I will be working that night but others may be interested. Email John at jlomas@westnet.com.au if you want more info

So Manta and Troppo do we go back to the 18th at the Springwood venue? I don't like making up everyones mind for them but that is what we started with in the poll. It will be the 18th soon if we don't make up our minds.
Can we have another round of yes and no. I will start, I can make a meet on the 18th at Springwood say noon onwards. In the end we know Nothing, but in the meantime Learn like crazy.

I was under the impression that the weeknight meeting was still going ahead on the 15th and that we would toss around a weekend date sometime soon, at least not until BigPix returns from the UK.
I certainly wouldn't want those who originally opted for the weeknight to now miss out. My point was that the majority of members preferred weekends but now that people have committed to the 15th, I really think that should go ahead. We weekend warriors will work something out ourselves. I realise that to have ANOTHER meet at Troppo's so soon may be stretching the friendship and I wasn't suggesting he should be prevailed upon in this way. If it's fine by him, great, but if not, I'm happy to help out or discuss alternate venues. Please don't ditch the weeknight event on my account, nor anyone else's who voiced their preference for weekends. I can only speak for myself but there was never an intention to prevent members attending the meet of their choice. My personal feelings now are that the 15th should definintely go ahead but maybe we should leave the weekend one for a few weeks or so afterwards. That way, those who can only do weeknights get a meet, those who can only do weekends get a meet and those who can do both get to double up. I'm, as always, at the service of the forum and will gladly fit in with what the majority wants. I can, however, only be in a certain number of places at once - despite my apparent multiple personalities!!! Simon

I agree with Simon. The 15th has been set and should go ahead. We will set another date for a larger weekend meet, which hopefully will suit.

Thanks Manta, it is really no problem for me as the office is not being used on weekends and it is obviously a fairly central position to consider.
The 15th as far as i know is ON and was never in doubt, but i felt that a direct follow on while "the iron was hot" agenda set and people prepared could easily be organised if the weekend warriors felt they wanted it. We can make it happen. Troppo Stand on the shoulders of giants when ever possible, the view is extraodinary
Well, you're the central player in this event Troppo so if you say it's a goer then let's get it done.
Perhaps I misconstrued Dargan's post about the weeknight meet - I interpreted it as the weeknight was being ditched for the weekend. It wasn't very clear that it was still going ahead. C'est la vie. Those that can go on the 15th - enjoy the evening (as I said in an earlier post, I may be able to drop in to say a very quick gidday) and those who would like to get together on the 18th can post their acceptance here and Troppo can set a time for us to be there. We'll do another one a little later on when BP comes back and decide the venue at that stage. So... I'm IN for the 18th. Simon

Great to see, time can be your decision, but i guess Afternoon might be easier. 1 or 2 arvo? Morning? evening?
what would everyone prefer? Troppo Stand on the shoulders of giants when ever possible, the view is extraodinary
Thanks Jacques.
I'm thinking that our travelling visitors (eg Dargan, Oneputt, JordanP etc) are more affected by time so perhaps they should offer some guidance as to when they think they could comforably get here, whilst still making it a worthwhile venture (i.e. not having to turn around and go home too soon). Maybe late morning would best suit? Allows reasonable travel time plus lunch with the group? plus afternoon for fun & photos? As far as time is concerned - I have no constraints on a weekend, though I wouldn't want it to stretch late into a Sunday night as an ugly bugger like me really needs his beauty sleep before the working week. Guys mid to late morning would be fine. As it is only a drive to Brissie I am easy. Jordan will be the one travelling the furthest.

I thought 11.30am arrival time for the 18th would be OK for me. and spend until 3-4pm with the group. I will bring the bubbly for this and I should also still have the projector from the evening meet on the 15th if all goes well.

How long is the weekend meet scheduled to run for? I have to drop someone at the airport at about 11.30am, so could get to Springwood by about 12.20pm or so (traffic permitting).
Also I hate to ask the question, but its not going to be just all Nikon talk is it? Edit: Had typed Springfield instead of Springwood. Too many eps of the Simpsons Last edited by DionM on Sat Sep 10, 2005 7:14 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Simon, What time do you expect to be finished the mini meet? I am coming thru Brizzie enroute north on Sunday arvo 18th and will pass right past Springwood on the freeway. I wouldn't mind dropping in and saying g'day. Max Coffs Hbr President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Not sure if you'll get this message in time Max...
I would imagine the meet will go 'til mid afternoon at least but even if it peters out and/or people have other things to do, I'm sure there are a few of us, myself definitely included, who'd love to catch up and say gidday. You've got Jacques' (Troppo's) contact numbers on this thread and I'll PM my mobile number. Hopefully see you in a few hours. Simon

Had a most enjoyable day and was a pleasure to meet all those that attended. That Moet was nice too Dargan. Perhaps a nice Glenfiddich at the next meet? Cheers

I'd lost tracking of this thread somehow. possibly during the forum hack.
how was the meet? for the next one, I work every weeknight and can only help out on weekends (two out of three available) if I'm not dragged kicking and screaming into the newsroom. any talk of another meet yet? Mark Greenmantle

Nothing definite yet Mark but there was some serious talk about an outdoor model shoot, perhaps at the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens, sometime soon. Watch this space...
