Where can I get some silica gel in Brisbane by Friday

Postby Spooky on Sun Sep 04, 2005 6:34 pm

Hi

Going to Sabah and KL for a two week holiday leaving next weekend.

Reading the threads it seems wise to get some silica gel to put in the camera bag.

Where does one buy this stuff. Spent 30minutes in Bunnings looking but the only stuff they had was more for putting in cupboards and came in larger containers. I really need some stuff in small bags or something I can put in my MiniTrekker.

Any ideas?

good onya waspo.

i have some also that i was going to offer.

don't get that damprid or moisture eating stuff from bunnings - after a while it breaks down and develops a sticky, viscous coating.

best stuff that i've come across is the larger indicating silica. goes from blue to clear and can be renewed in the oven at ~115 C

You could always buy some when you are then? Just about every camera shop has it.

That's where I got mine - when I was there a few years ago. Take a film canister with some small holes drilled into it as your container to use in the bag.

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

I'm in Sydney. I am after the same thing, going to thailand and singapore at the end of the month. Just can't seem find any except those you put in your wardrobe. Are they ok to use?

Hey Waspo, I wouldn't mind getting some, any chance?

I'd be willing to drive out for pick-up?

I get mine in small bags from Bunnings... As usual they are fairly unreliable in their supplies and it can differ from store to store.
