Try before you buy

Postby mrbillf on Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:14 pm

Hi All,

I was thinking the other day. (that's why my big toe was glowing  ), is there a place in Sydney that you can hire equipment such as lens? Because I thought it would be a good idea to get a feel before you make the big decision to buy. Some of these lens aren't cheap.

The other reason would be if you had a wedding to do and would like a better lens for the occasion.

Any ideas on where these places are?

Regards,
Bill

I think you'll find that the easy answer is 'come to a minimeet'. The minimeets are a very social and friendly occassion, where almost everyone is more than happy for others to look (and try out) their gear. You'd be surprised at the amount of gear that comes out at these things!

I'd love to say that there should be a place to do this in Sydney, and I'd even love to say that Maxwell should have a showroom to let you try their gear on your bodies... but they don't... and the only suggestion I can put forth is to come to a mini-meet.

You're in Sydney. You really have no excuse.

For someone who still hasn't made a mini-meet, but is definitely trying (third time lucky?). What exactly happens during mass and pray session ?
That bit did tend to confuse me a little

Hi there,

Yes the answer to that question is to visit a mini-meet!
If the lens isnt there, it most likely doesnt exist!

As birddog would say, dont hire, put your monies towards a deposit on the lens you are after!

Horray for mini-meets!
