Betta Electrical 500 V8's.

Hi Guys,
Today I thought I'd pop into the Betta Electrical 500 at Sandown Raceway to see what it was like to take photo's there. Bloody packed as you can imagine and could only really find one corner to take any decent pic's, and then there was a bloody great fence obstructing my view. Luckily the wire holes were big enough to stick the lens through so it wasn't too bad.
Anyway, I got tons of shots of basically the same thing with a few knocks, skids and off track antics to keep it interesting.
Here's a quicky of some flame throwers before it pelted down and my battery ran out!

Jase, get a bit wet mate??? watched a bit on the tv. I to got a bit wet took the BMW for a ride and well ended up at the track as they had rider training, anyhow got back without getting too wet.
This is a good pic and haven't been to see these yet but that would be the hassle with high fences,but as long as you got a few is good.

I had the opportunity to go to a Corporate Day at Sandown today (with a Supplier), but declined because I couldn't take my camera and that would have killed me !

Nice photo. It's a pity your view was so obstructed and you were limited to the one type of shot.

Did you get much variance in the photos or do they all pretty much look like this one ?? By the end of the day, you must have been an expert at judging when to fire the shutter, as they came round the corner ?!?!?

I'm going through them now and I guess they are pretty much the same as the first. I couldn't really get the reach I wanted where I was standing and I was hoping to get to the other side where there was a gap in the fence which would have made for a pretty good angle, except my battery ran out.
I used my Sigma 70-300mm at mainly 200mm 1/1000 (to keep the cars sharp and radial blur the wheels. A big no-no I know. )

High shutter speed is almost necessary if you wont clear sharp results unless you can pan. I was at the drags on Saturday and got the shot of the day top fueler off the line front wheels with air,but late in the day and did not think to increase ISO low shutter (100) and shot has blurr,big disappointment.High shutter speed your friend,comments please from the more experienced.

Nice work Jase, I'm a V8 fan so it doesnt take much to impress me! And yeah I could see that you might have got a little wet! I was working all arvo but had access to a TV so was able to stay tuned!
