Gold Coast - what and where?

Postby Hlop on Thu Sep 15, 2005 8:47 pm

Hi,

I'm going for few days to Gold Coast for Cisco Networkers 2005 and most probably will have some free time on Monday and maybe some evenings for night shooting. Could anyone advice - where and what? :)

Also, would be glad if someone whant to join me. Sort of mini-meet? :)

No, they not :x As usually, they promised to contact me but didn't. When I rang them, they told that I have to sign some more forms, I did, then signed CC authorization. Probably will be released tomorrow and delivered on Monday when I won't be here :(

Back to the topick.

Anyone? Suggestions?

If you go this way, you won't get it till Wed. They're very slack in processing the paperworks and they never call you, you have to call them as the "rules of engagement"

North of Southport on the bay looking at Surfers, Marina Mirage, the Casino, nightlife in Broadbeach, Surfers is not real safe at night with a camera, so take a friend.

If I was there i would join you.......have fun.......
here is an old pix to get your trigger finger ready......but you have to like mornings. The Sand pumping jetty at main beach, the north end of Main beach Parade,

Thanks Big Pix! Beautiful sunrise!
Not real safe? What do you mean? Drunk junkies or really criminal area? :)

Birddog,
It doesn't really mater Wednesday or Monday in this case - I won't be able to pick it up till Friday anyway. I wish I had time and go to Granville myself but not a chance to get a time window between 8:30 and 5

Just gangs and drunks, as it is party central......in the centre of Surfers
but if you like it a bit more up market try broadbeach bars and Main Beach bars, Mano's at Main Beach is good along with other places, you will find that Monday night most places are a bit quite, the place comes alive around wednesday.......but I am sure you will find somewhere to party......

If you have transport we are having a meet on Sunday on the southern outskirts of Brissie. Would be great to see you. :D

That'd be great but I'm landing about 8:30pm on Sunday to Gold Coast airport. Bit late for a meeting.

Agreed - it's a shame we can't put out the welcome mat properly for you Hlop. I'm sure you know already but it's the start of our second week of our school holidays when you arrive and the Gold Coast will be MANIC. There won't be too many 'quiet' places!

I second Big Pix's recommendation of Mano's, Tedder Avenue, Main Beach. I've had dinners and Sunday breakfasts there and the food and service were terrific.

Enjoy your trip and don't worry about Cyclone Birdy....

Hi Kevin,

Thanks a lot for your offer! I'm OK with airport transfer - there are coaches provided. Monday night would be great for some shooting - I don't have particular plans yet because I'm not familiar with GC - it's my first trip there
