Wet weather gearAhoy there folks,
Now that the rains are ere, I figure I should think about some wet weather gear for my camera (I'm kitted out head to toe in gortex, so I'm okay ) I was looking at some Kata gear from B&H, which to protect the body and lens (Sigma 70-200 2.8 ) would be just under $100 U.S. Does anyone out there have something they use that their happy with, or have any other suggestions. I know if I buy it, the drought will come back. But if I dont..... Thanks in advance, Ras. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Hi...
I was looking at the same thing and asked a few weeks ago http://www.d70users.net/viewtopic.php?t=9198&highlight= Theres a aquatech? link in that thread which I came across and as you will read Birddog has one... see his comments. I haven't got back to looking, but might check out the Kata gear Cheers D4, D700, plus glass from 14mm to 200mm

Just spoke with AquaTec with regards to their rain protection, which fits a D70 body, with 80-200mm F2.8 lens and the rain gear costs $AU 278 plus GST, then of course you need the NEP70 eyepeice adapter, which costs $37 plus GST. ($346 + delivery)
Thats all pretty pricey when you can get the Kata gear, for less than half that price delivered from B&H in less than a week. Just thought I'd let anyone out there know who cares 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Thats what I figure, and with the Mt. Panorama race and final round of the Australian Rally Championship to shoot in October (all here in Bathurst I might add), I wouldn't be surprised if it decided to rain on me.

Hey Guys,
this is a more cost effective option. I ordered one on Monday, hopefully will have it by early next week. Will let you know how well it works........ http://www.jessops.com/search/viewprodu ... _SEARCH=Y& What does that button do....??
Cheers Raskill, you saved me some investigation........
but your right $300+ is a bit rich... maybe a plastic might be just as good... I guess its how professional you might want to appear! D4, D700, plus glass from 14mm to 200mm

Couldn't agree more Birdy, exactly what I did at Spa-Francorchamps when it was raining. Hole in the front for the lens, screw the monopod mount through the plastic on the underside, and operate through the hole in the back. Worked a treat, one bone-dry 70-200 VR at the end of the day; sticky tape is an optional extra.
I recall being in London once and my mother making a jacket out a garbage bag (a clean one...) she got off a council worker. I was mortified, horrified, shocked and stunned. I was also wet because there was no way in the creation of hell I was doing that.
I guess it must have phsychologically scared me, because I'm leaning away from the garbage bag idea 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Edit: Disregards, my quest continues.
For all you Dx users out there I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Nikon-Camera-Rain-Cover-Size-S-For-D2XD2HD1XD1HF6F5_W0QQitemZ7549303501QQcategoryZ107925QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting Was hoping it would fit the D70, but alas not. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc
