Matt I feel for you, as my camera died while here in London........ but my son picked up for me a D70s body from b&h NY. Still have not had much of a chance to give it a good work out as yet....... but I know what it is like to be without your camera..........
Cheers ....bp....

I'm really sorry that you feel you've been abandoned in your hour of need Matt. I felt for you when I read your post, thinking how bad it was that another one of our greats has now fallen victim to Nikonpox but, like so many in today's society, I turned away and walked on. I therefore offer my sincere, albeit belated, condolences at this difficult time and hope some form of recovery is forthcoming very soon.
I also felt that as I had nothing to offer by way of explanation or solution, it was best to not say anything. Sorry. Simon

I too feel for you but as Gary stated on the particular thread no other comments are necessary.
Here we can now offer you the sympathy so greatly needed.... Herein I start my one minutes silence...... "If your pictures aren't good enough, you're probably not close enough." Robert Capa.

Yeah, but I'm gonna go over Dad's head and let this one pass.
That truly sucks Matt... Nikon are going to have to start treating these problems as if they actually occur. How much is repair? Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

I remember when my D2X died, IT SUCKS BIG TIME
When you get your D70 repaired you will trully appreciate it even more. This is a frequent problem is Nikon going to do something about it?
That sucks!! The more I hear of it the more I think a Canon may have been a better choice
The cost of repair on these things from what I gather is outrageous. A piece of technology such as the D70 or any higher end Nikon for that matter should be virtually bulletproof and if not why not? Tony steps down from the soapbox..... All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
only if we get together and say Nikon you have a problem....... Cheers ....bp....

Very sorry for you loss Matt.
Since you spent nearly 2hrs cleaning my CCD, still it was sparkling clean, you can borrow my D70 anytime you need to.
I'd post my sympathy here but I've already done it in the other thread (5 minutes before the start of this thread)
If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??
Second, you can't be serious!
I, like the others didn't comment in the other thread because we were told not to, but I am truly sorry to hear this has happened to any of our members. Good luck with it. Deb "Sometimes when you are sad Poko, it's good to hug the monkey."
Matt - Sincerest, heavily empathised, condolences from a (twice) fellow sufferer.
The only thing to warm you is the thought that at least Maxwells should repair it at their cost, as they've done twice with mine (purchased 17th March 2004). Good Luck Justin
Matt - so sorry to hear that the BLOG has got your beloved D70 - get Philo to give you a big hug

This truly sucks Matt. Plus it's 3am here and I haven't gone to bed, and that really sucks too.
Everything sucks except the new pics I just uploaded onto flickr. Check them out, they're awesome!!! But first send condolences to Matt. Man that sucks...seriously.
Me too Matt, i had a problem today turned out to be dirty contacts but was prepared to come home and see if could get another cam.

Blinking Green Light of Death. A small percentage of early production D70's (some say from March 2004 to Sept 2004) suffer a failure where the only symptom is that one day you pull your D70 out of the bag.....and nothing - just the CF card access led blinking it's little green wires off. This is with the power off. The only way to stop the led blinking is to pop the battery out. It requires a return to Nikon for repair basically. Cheers Justin
Hi Redline

Matt I've just returned from a night out with some friends (and a number of very tasty reds) at a delightful restaurant so didn't see your sorry tale in the BGLOD thread (althouugh had I seen it I probably wouldn't have commented since Gary said not to and I'm scared of him ).
This sucks. Hope you have extended warranty. How many images were you up to. I seem to recall last failure was around the 15,000 mark. Peter

Matt.K,
Send it back to Nikon/ Maxwell. 1/ It was repaired before and within 3 months warranty after the repair. one or two weeks won't make anything difference. 2/ BGLOD is a known issue from any Nikon repair centres around the world, they did not post any "recall" buy they will accept the return for repair if it's. Go to Maxwell on Monday and give them some works, thadeus too! both of you may join and harass them if they decline, which I never think of. Bring the 40Gb drive over, I do it for you same as take one of my cameras with you either D100/ D2h or D2x, you name it and I'll have it ready for you. Keep us post about the work which you're giving to Maxwell on Monday. We're all behind and support you!!!!!! Birddog114

I feel sorry for you and Thaddeus... I suggest that you both go to Maxwell's together and give them a stereo rendition of the BGLOD...
Cheers, John

Matt. K - truly sorry to hear about the dreaded 'BGLOD'
A visit to Maxwell's will make it better. Rest your head on Philo's shoulder and she will make you feel better fozzie
When people ask what equipment I use - I tell them my eyes.
Matt, sorry to hear about what happened. Birdy, what a great offer. It was great to meet both of you yesterday.

Matt,
What's the latest's has your baby been taken for emergency surgery? I hope they fix it properly for you this time, or even better offer you a replacement (doubt that would happen, but it's nice to dream). Be sure to let us know how this situation is progressing.
I think his D70 is in the processing of incarneration to the D2x

What happened to your D2x Wendell?
Can't believe how generous members of this forum are! 3 members offered to loan me a camera!....you are an unbelievable bunch and that's what makes this forum so bloody special! Thank you. The amount of goodwill shown amongst yourselves is truly something unique in a gathering of folk who met in cyberspace. Long may it endure. I have access to a camera or two if required so thank you to those who offered. I will keep you posted on the outcome of my experience with Maxwells and I am expecting them to honour their commitment to the NIKON brand.
Regards
Matt. K
Good luck in fighting the good fight, Matt. How can Maxwells rail against what their global colleagues are recognising as a design/manufacturing fault? Are they that arrogant/stupid/contemptuous of their client base? Or is that a stupid question....
