Mailman Arrived Today... YippeeHi there,
I just finished opening the UPS package that came today... my girlfriend doesn't understand so I thought I'd share my excitement here.... Contents: 1x Wimberly Macro Flash Bracket 2x LP-10 Lens plates (for the Sigma 180 and 100-300) 1x AP-553 Lens foot (for the 500 f4) 1x Lumiquest Softbox. At first I wasn't that excited because I don't have my KB-2 yet... but then I saw that I can attach these lens plates to my normal tripod head.... woohoo!!! Now I just hope the bracket+softbox doesn't scare away all the insects I'm trying to shoot.... pretty formidable sight I reckon Ok... enough excitement for now. Living in poverty due to my addiction to NIKON... Is there a clinic that can help me?
Hi Paul
Welcome to the Wimberley Macro Flash Bracket Club. It has certainly lived up to my expectations although you will have to get used to the "Whats that" questions and puzzled looks from bystanders. My need at the moment is to achieve consistent results with the SB800 but that will come with time Ray
Congrats Paul! It's nice to get new toys (I'm waiting for my own deliveries this week ) even if your other half doesn't quite understand.
So are you going to bring them out on the proposed outing this weekend?
I had a choice of getting either the Wimberley Telephoto Bracket or the RRS-91B. I ended up going the RRS. Not sure what the differences are, I'll probably end up getting the Wimberley aswell at some stage as it seems both have their advantages/disadvantages.
Congrats on the purchase Paul. Darryl (aka Kipper)
Nikon D200
Unfortunately I don't get weekends off (Monday and Tuesdays are my days off) and at the moment I am working night-shifts. Also I must have missed that post as I didn't realise there was a meeting.
I did look at the RSS bracket but didn't think it offered the same amount of flexibility as the Wimberly. It wasn't an easy choice that's for sure! Paul http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com

May I ask where you sourced them from? Am interested myself.
Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes. http://www.dionm.net/
I got mine from
http://www.bhphotovideo.com I was going to get it through wimberly's website but wanted the softbox as well... one package is cheaper to ship than two Paul http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com

Some quick grabs...
Sigma 180 macro + Kenko Tubes + Wimberly Macro Bracket + SB-800 + Lumiquest Softbox - D70 (I only have one cam) Initial shots look very promising. Nice soft shadows... the bracket is VERY flexible. I will get a sync cord soon. Paul http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com
