D70 EMERGENCYHi all. A mate is frantically txting me from a game park in south africa. He says that his D70 is not accepting CF cards. Everything else is working! The display says 'chr'. When the card is formated it still doesn't work, when a different card is used and formatted it doesn't work either. HELP! He says he is missing lots of great shots of the wildlife!

I had this happen to me a couple of times when O/S but I would take it out then put it back in again and it seemed ok. One time it kept coming up with that message so I got Tony to format the card in his Canon P&S and then it worked again in my camera. I don't know if that will help but anything is worth a shot when it comes to it!

I used to have this problem quite frequently.
I think it's a problem with the CF slot on the camera dying.... my opinion though as I have no real idea. I've always found taking the card out, putting it back in again and again, solves it, formatting it, etc. There really is no way around it but to take the card in and out and format it. Tell him to insert the card in the slot very firmly. I get this with my D70 when i am too gentle with it.
